Today, a whole generation of young Ukrainians is growing up in times of war: some stayed in the country, while others left for safer places, although the war has definitely affected everyone. This project is about young Ukrainians for whom graduation from school coincided with the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Our goal is to dive deeper into growing up during the war; to do this, we will communicate with those who maintain long-distance friendships. For instance, one person remains in Ukraine and the other leaves for North America during the full-scale invasion.
The aim of the project is to collect personal stories of young people aged 18-22 who are living their war experience in Ukraine or North America (USA or Canada). Although this project is not a research project, and the data collected will not be analyzed at this stage, the stories will be confidentially shared with partner media and later added to the large-scale public archive of the Documenting Ukraine project.
