The diary begins on February 26, and since then it describes the stories and facts of every day of the war. Although Kyiv is in the name, the geographical events described cover the frontline, the frontline territories, stories from the occupied cities, and from cities where tragedies occurred due to Russian missiles and bombs. The Diary contains stories about different people: refugees, volunteers, soldiers, neighbors, intellectuals, foreign friends of Ukraine, etc. The stories are mostly recorded as monologues and dialogues. In addition, the Diary records the vocabulary of war, changes in the meaning of words, anecdotes and memes, and ways of living through tragedy with the help of black humor. There are stories of those who died, those who went missing, and those who are in captivity. A significant number of the recorded stories are about Kyiv and the daily life of the war: everyday sketches, blackout life hacks, stories about animals, stories from children’s school life, conversations in queues and at the volunteer center, etc. Excerpts from the Diary have been published in various media and on various Ukrainian and foreign platforms. These are stories about what is happening in the cities, monologues and excerpts from monologues of volunteers, soldiers, and victims, casual conversations, jokes, information about shelling, etc.
