The initiative brings together scholars from Ukraine, Poland, Luxembourg, the UK, and Germany who record stories of forced migration using a common methodology. Within the six months of work from mid-March to mid-September 2022, the Ukrainian team collected more than 150 stories. Each of them reveals a number of plots showing the everyday life of people at war. People themselves decide where to lead their story, what to pay attention to, and our questions serve to clarify their story. This openness enables a wide variety of details to emerge showing the way people live through the reality of war. In 2024, we plan to conduct a second round of the survey and develop digital environment for processing, preserving, and potential accessing digital oral testimonies from the war. At this stage, the Center for Urban History is cooperating with the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Luxembourg Center for Contemporary and Digital History.
