Two cycles of documentary stories consisting of scenes of everyday life, conversations on the streets, in public transport, and in shops—what the author and his relatives and strangers saw, heard, and experienced, and reflections on the personal and collective experience of the war.
The first cycle (190 thousand characters in total) covers the events of 2022: from the beginning of the war to the December blackouts, and tells the story of Kharkiv under shelling and bombing and neighboring Poltava, where there are more IDPs than locals. Particular attention is paid to the IDPs’ “sense of home” and their sense of being “other people”, shaped by the objects of someone else’s everyday life and new living conditions.
The second cycle of stories (currently in progress) is about the year 2023, which is psychologically different from the previous one, when people hoped that the war was about to end, and in which everyone has learned to live with the “feeling of war” and has found or developed points of support that help them to struggle in life.
